Overview of the pattern:

The top begins with wide straps, which are joined at the neckline one at a time. After adding stitches to shape the front and back pieces at the underarms, the top is joined in the round. Both the neckline and armholes are finished with i-cord edging.

Difficulty level: The top is perfect for a knitter who knows basic knitting techniques and is ready to try out something new

Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9) – see measurements below

Recommended ease: approx. 0–5 cm / 0–2” of positive ease on the bust (or widest part)

Sample knitted with 3 cm / 1” of positive ease on the chest.

Measurements for the finished top:

Bust circumference approx: 72 (81, 90, 99, 108) (117, 126, 135, 144) cm / 28.5 (32, 35.5, 39, 42.5) (46, 50, 53, 144)”

Length from armhole to hem: approx. 31 (32, 33, 34, 35) (36, 37, 38, 39) cm / 12.25 (12.6, 13, 13.5, 13.75) (14, 14.5, 15, 15.5)” – this can be altered.

Armhole circumference approx: 30 (35, 36, 42, 47) (53, 58, 65, 70) cm / 12 (13,75, 14, 16.5, 18.5) (21, 23, 25.5, 27.5)”

Yarn:

Approx. 400 (450, 500, 550, 600) (650, 750, 850, 1000) meters / 440 (500, 550, 600, 650) (700, 800, 930, 1100) yds of DK-weight yarn.

Sample knitted with: 4 (4, 4, 4, 5) (6, 6, 7, 8) balls of Knitting for Olive Pure Silk (100 % silk, 250 m / 270 yds / 50 g), in colorway Cream, knitted with two strands of yarn held together. 

Needles:

3 mm / US 2.5 40 cm / 16” and 60 cm / 24” or 80 cm / 32” circular needles.

Other materials: Removable stitch markers, tapestry needle, scrap yarn or stitch holding cables.

Gauge: 20 sts x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4″ in lace pattern from the pattern’s shoulder strap  with 3 mm / US 2.5 needles (after blocking)

Change the needle size if needed to achieve the right gauge.
