Poolaknits Ballerina is a light and airy mohair cardigan with dropped shoulders, v-neck opening and elegant cable pattern on the sleeves. If you like, you can add small buttons to the cardigan or leave them out, as there is no button band on this simple cardigan.

Description

Ballerina cardigan is knitted top down, starting from the top of the back, which is knitted flat and from where stitches are picked up for the front part. The front and back parts are joined from the armpits and the body is knitted in flat to the hem which is finished with a ribbing. Stitches are picked for the sleeves and knitted in the round. A simple cable pattern goes through the sleeves, but if you like you can of course leave it out as well.

Note! The sweater has around 10-15 cm / 4-6 inches of positive ease, so pick a size that is around 10-15 cm / 4-6 inches larger than your own bust circumference (or widest part).

Length of the finished sweater from shoulder to hem: approx. 53(56)58(60)62(64)66(68)70 cm / 21(22)23(24)24.5(25)26(27)28 inches (this can be altered)

Circumference of the sleeve: approx. 40(44)46(48)50(52)54(56)58 cm / 15.5(17)18(19)19.5(20.5)21.5(22)23  inches

4(5)5(6)6(7)8(8)9 balls of Sandnes Garn Ballerina Chunky Mohair (50 g/135 m), colorway in pictures 5023 Lilac

Note! You can knit the cardigan with double held mohair yarn as well, just double the amount of yarn compared to Ballerina Chunky Mohair yarn. Check that you meet the gauge.

Knitting needles: 

6 mm / US10: 40 cm /16 inch and 60 cm or 80 cm /24 or 32 inch circular needles 

4 mm / US6: double pointed needles, 40 cm /16 inch and 60 cm or 80 cm /24 or 32 inch circular needles 

Other materials: stitch markers, tapestry needle, 5 buttons with 1 cm / 0.4 inch diameter (optional)

Gauge (in stockinette stitch 6 mm/US10): 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inch = 16 sts x 22 rows. (Alter the needle size to meet the gauge)
