Description

Poolaknits Frilla is knitted top down in one piece, starting from the top of the back, which is knitted in flat and from where stitches are picked up to form the front piece. The neckline is shaped with increases one shoulder piece at a time, and moss stitch details are knitted on the shoulder seams. The back and front pieces are joined in the round from the armpits. Sleeves are knitted with picked up stitches and knitted in the round. You will change into your contrasting colour in the hem and the sleeves, knitting moss stitch – this is a detail that you can leave out, if preferred. The hem and the sleeves will then be finished with an i-cord edging. The collar is knitted in moss stitch, folded in half and crinkled with the help of a thin elastic band.

The top has around 15-25 cm / 6-10 inches of positive ease, so pick a size that is around 15-25 cm / 6-10 inches larger than your own bust circumference (or widest part). If you want the top to be of a tighter fit, choose a size that is closer to your bust circumference.

Length of the finished sweater from shoulder to hem: Approx. 40-55 cm / 16-22 inches (all sizes, this can be altered)

Lace-strength yarn is knitted held in double, except for when knitting in moss stitch.

You can always knit the sweater with any kind of yarn or combination of yarns, as long as you meet the gauge (below). 

Knitting needles: 

• 4 mm/US6: double pointed needles, 60 cm and 80 cm / 24 or 32 inch circular needles
• 5 mm/US8: 40 cm / 16 inch and 60 cm or 80 cm / 24 or 32 inch circular needles

Other materials: stitch markers, thin elastic band for the collar, tapestry needle

Gauge (in stockinette stitch): 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inch = 19 sts x 28 rows. (alter your needle size if needed to obtain the correct gauge)
