Poolaknits Margo is a light mohair sweater with a simple purled stripe pattern. The sweater is knitted with two strands of mohair held together, creating a soft and airy feel. Margo is a boxy sweater with a relaxed fit and European shoulder-design. The sweater is knitted top down starting from the top of the back which is knitted flat. The stitches for the front are picked up from the top of the back. Once the top part of the front is finished, you will join in the round. The stitches for the sleeves are picked up from the armholes and knitted in the round. The neckline is finished with a simple and timeless i-cord edging. The sweater hem and sleeves are finished with a ribbing.

Bust circumference of the finished sweater: approx. (98)107(114)122(128)134(146)152 cm 

Note! The sweater has around 15-30 cm of positive ease, so choose a size that’s around 15-30 cm larger than your bust circumference. Alternatively if you prefer the sweater to have a tighter fit, choose a size with bust circumference close to yours. 

Length of the finished sweater from shoulder to hem: approx. 60 cm (all sizes, this can be altered) 

Circumference of the top of the sleeve: approx. (44)45(46)48(50)53(55)56 cm 

 

Yarn: 

(1000)1300(1500)1600(1900)2100(2300)2500 m lace-strength mohair yarn (held in double) 

Option 1: 

Nurja Mohair: (3)3(4)4(5)5(5)6 skeins, yarn held in double 

Option 2: 

Sandnes Garn Tynn Silk Mohair: (5)6(7)8(9)10(11)12 skeins, yarn held in double 

Option 3: 

Isager Silk Mohair: (5)6(7)8(9)10(11)12 skeins, yarn held in double 

Note! You can knit the sweater with any lace-strength mohair yarn (held in double), as long as it meets the gauge (below). 

The sweater pictured in the pattern is knitted with Nurja Mohair in the shade “Morganiitti”. 

Knitting needles: 

– 3,5 mm: Double pointed needles and 60/80 cm circular needles 

– 5 mm: Double pointede needles, 40 cm and 60/80 cm circular needles 

Other materials: Stitch markers, tapestry needle 

Gauge (in stockinette stitch): 10 x 10 cm = 17 sts x 24 rows. (Alter the needle size if necessary, to meet the gauge)
