Overview of the cardigan:

The fit of the Sunday Club Cardigan is relaxed and slightly cropped. The cardigan is worked top-down in one piece, starting from the upper back, which is knit flat. Stitches are then picked up for the front pieces. The neckline is shaped with increases, one shoulder at a time. Once the front and back pieces are long enough, they are joined at the underarms, and the body is knit flat down to the hem. Stitches are picked up for the sleeves, which are first worked flat with German short rows to secure the fit and then in the round. The hem and sleeve cuffs feature long ribbings, and a button band is worked in double knitting.

Recommended ease: 15–25 cm / 6–10” of positive ease. The grey sample has approx. 25 cm / 10″ of positive ease and black sample has 10 cm 4″ of positive ease.

Yarn: 

You need approx. 550(600)650(700)750(800)900(1000) meters / 600(650)700(750)820(940)1000(1100) yds of airy bulky yarn. 

Sample knitted with 6(6)7(7)8(8)9(10) balls of Sunday Knitting Club Unforgettable Alpaca (50 g / 100 m / 110 yds, 64 % Baby Alpaca, 29 % Cashmere, 7 % Silk) in colorway 1384 Liquorice (grey knit) and Black Pepper (black knit).

Needles: 

• 5 mm / US 8: double pointed needles or 40 cm / 16” circular needles and 60 cm / 24” or 80 cm / 32” circular needles (for the body and sleeves)
• 3 mm / US 2.5: double pointed needles and 40 cm / 16” circular needles and 60 cm / 24” or 80 cm / 32” circular needles (for cuffs and button band)

Other materials: Removable stitch markers, tapestry needle, 5 buttons (diameter of 2 cm / 0.75”)

Gauge:

14 sts x 21 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4″ in stockinette stitch with 5 mm / US 8 needles (after blocking). 

Change the needle size if needed to achieve the right gauge.
