Weekender sweater pattern

Poolaknits Weekender-sweater is an airy, v-neck shaped mohair sweater, with stripes knitted out of sequin yarn. You can also knit the sweater with another yarn or leave the stripes out completely – just remember to note this when calculating the yarn usage. The mohair is knitted with two strands held in together, which will give the sweater a light and soft finish accompanied with the festive stripes. The Weekender sweater is knitted top down, and it has the European shoulder design to give the knit the perfect fit. You will start by knitting the back part, after which you pick up stitches for your front part and form the v-neck with increases. The front and back parts are then joined in the round. The hem is finished with an i-cord edging. You will pick up your sleeve stitches from the armholes and finish the sleeves again with a beautiful and timeless i-cord finish.

Note! The sweater has around 15-30 cm / 12-16 inches of positive ease, so pick a size with around 15-30 cm / 12-16 inches larger bust circumference than your own. If you prefer a tighter fit, choose a size that’s closer to your bust circumference. 

Length of the finished sweater from shoulder to hem: approx. 55-65 cm / 22-26 inches (all sizes, this can be altered) 

Circumference of the top of the sleeve: approx. 36(38)40(42)44(46)48(48)50(54) cm / 14(15)15.7(16.5)17.3(18)19(19)20(21.3) inches

Yarn: 

The sweater is knitted with two lace-strength mohair strands held together, when using the main colour. The striping is knitted with one mohair strand and two strands of the sequin yarn held together. The estimated yarn usage is calculated according to these instructions on the yarn use.

Note! You can knit the sweater with any kind of lace-strength mohair yarn (held in double) and not use the sequin yarn, but make sure you meet the gauge. 

The sweater pictured in the pattern is knitted with Säie wool silk mohair in the colorway Evening White and Hobbii Go handmade party deluxe-sequin yarn in the colorway Coral.

Knitting needles: 

5 mm / US 8: 

• Double pointed needles 
• 40 cm / 16 inches  circular needles 
• 60/80 cm / 24/32 inches circular needles 

Other materials: stitch markers and a tapestry needle

Gauge (in stockinette stitch): 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches  = 17 sts x 24 rows. (Change the needle size if needed to obtain the correct gauge)
